“Welcome back to WCTM your local rock station”
This is the story of a small town radio host named Travis Oakley. He got the job last year after his military term was over. Travis has lived in Salt Lake City, Utah all of his life. He recently got married to a wonderful person named Cynthia Birch. They live in a small house on the Westside of Salt Lake City. Travis Oakley thought he and his wife had pretty normal lives. Well if that were true, why would I be telling you all of this? Why, because Travis’s life was about to spiral out of control.
Meanwhile off the coast of California a new enemy was devising a plan so evil, so terrible, so devious only one country could think of it, and it’s not Iraq or Baghdad but none other than Canada. Ever since the U.S defeated Iraq almost 20 years ago, the United States holds 70% of the world’s oil. The war left the U.S with more than just oil but a weakened army. More than 50% of the troops were killed or severely injured. The U.S never would have thought that of all the countries in the world that could have attacked it would be Canada. But this brings us back to Travis Oakley at his suburban home in Utah.
Travis and Cynthia were about to eat dinner when the phone rang. “Who could be calling this late” said Travis. He picks up the phone “hello.” “Hi, this is Gen. Matthew Harris of the U.S special forces unit.” “We understand that you have experience as a spy,” said Harris. “Well that was a long time ago, what help could I be to you?” Travis is very confused by all of this. When the general said he has information about an attack on the U.S Travis immediately knew he must do. “Turn on your TV son channel 6,” said Harris. “California was under siege early today by what was said to be Canadians, could this mean war once again for the U.S, if so what would we...click” Travis turns off his TV. “My god, how could they do this.” Harris and Travis talk about how he could go undercover as a soldier and take them out. Travis doesn't want to be in any way a part of this but he has no choice. You have two options here (A) help us or (B) we kill you because you know too much already.” said Harris. Now, you might be thinking that Travis must be crazy to do this, but it must be done. “We’ll pick you up in one hour, be ready.” Travis was speechless; he would have to leave his wife behind for a long time, so this was his most emotional hour in his life. One hour later the general was there to take Travis into the adventure of a lifetime. Travis was blindfolded on his way to Area 51. Travis knew Cynthia was crying and he was not there to calm her.
Back in California the Canadian troops were marching and burning all they see. What most people would find funny and unrealistic the troops were on horseback, but they also had leftover tanks and bombs from the war 20 years ago. What seemed to be a disaster, turned out to be only a minor setback. The attack was merely just a warning of what is coming. No people were killed, only injured and some left homeless. The siege would last for 18 hours before U.S troops would interfere and take back the city.
At Area 51, General Harris told Travis that he would have to go undercover as a spy to get close enough to learn Canada’s plan. Travis understands all but one thing, why did Harris take him to area 51 and not the pentagon? That really doesn’t matter anyway. Travis is briefed and sent to the Canadian transport ship before it departs. Travis must wear a red Canadian outfit taken from a captured soldier. Inside the ship Travis smells something so vial, so disgusting it had to be Canadian. You see Travis was picked not for his experience but for the fact that he to, is Canadian.
His parents were both Canadian, his mother did not want Travis being born there so she moved to the U.S. his father he never really met because he remarried to someone else after Travis was born. Anyway the ship smelled like dead fish that has been dead for some time now. Or maybe it was the nasty smell of the soldiers in there with him.
Upon arriving in Canada there was meeting, in which they will introduce the leader of this operation. Travis is not alone three other spy were sent as backup. The time has come the leader will show himself but not even Travis could have predicted what happens next. A strange but familiar voice arose and said, “Good afternoon I am Fredrick Oakley your new leader. Travis could not believe his ears could this be his real father? Later that day when Travis was headed toward his quarters, Fredrick stopped him, was Travis’s cover blown? “What's your name soldier?” Travis stopped and said, “Travis...Uh...Lyn yah Travis Lyn.” The commander looked at Travis and said, “I used to have a son named Travis but he died a long time ago.” Travis did not know what to say, his own father was leading an attack on the United States. Now the leader of the Canadian army was in fact Travis’s father, but if he was to know, Travis’s mission was over. As the commander leaves Travis is filled with relief.
The true soldiers were out celebrating a near victory in San Diego. As Travis and the three other spies were finding out info on there next attack when the unthinkable happened. A Canadian guard was coming there way. Travis and others ran for cover. The three spies were well hid except for Travis. The guard spots him and takes him to Commander Oakley. “Sir this man wasn’t partying and having fun sir.” Okay this might seem like the untimely end of our super duper hero, but it’s not so stop crying you fools. “Soldier, leave the room.” “Now, will you tell me why your not having fun Travis?” said com. Oakley. Back in the room with the other spies’ one of them sees Travis and the commander alone, and what looks like to be the commander about to shoot Travis. The spy takes out his gun and fires, but thanks to poor skills he misses. He is then immediately shot 10 times by the other guards. With Travis’s cover blown he taken to a Canadian POW camp.
His cell is like a storage center for dead fish or something because it stunk. The other two spies retreat back home to inform the president. Travis is taken to an interrogation room were Commander Oakley confronts him. “What’s your real name?” Travis looks up to him and says, “my name is…well my name Travis Oakley, dad.” Fredrick was so quiet you could hear a pine drop. “No, this can’t be, you can’t be him, you can’t,” said Fredrick.
You all are probably thinking, (oh no not a father son ending like in star wars) well too bad because its not, in fact it’s well…well different from other endings in ways you’ll never understand. Travis tells his father what his mission was and he must do it. The commander has another idea. “Guards seize him.” Travis is very confused, “what, I love you dad, why can’t you just end this war for good?” “You always were too soft, and that’s why I left you and your pathetic mother, I will end your life so you won’t ever interfere again.” BANG!!! With those last words Travis’s life was ended. At that same time the U.S army entered and shot the commander where he stood. Without there leader the war was over just like that, and it’s all thanks to a radio host extreme bravery and honor.
Three years later, Cynthia has remarried and has two kids, which none of them were named Travis.
